Help to give a cat warmth, protection and love by sponsoring a cat pod

Become a sponsor now

Just 22p a day, £6.50 a month

Vulnerable animals need you - please sponsor a safe little place for them today.

Every day 300 abused, neglected or injured animals arrive at RSPCA animal centres. Become a sponsor for just 22p a day and you’ll help give them a safe little place to stay. Here, they'll receive all the specialist care they need to heal in body and spirit.

You can choose to sponsor a dog kennel, cat pod, or both. As a loving sponsor you’ll get to know some of the animals you're helping in email or post updates, and you'll gain access to videos of them enjoying their stay. You can also come to open days at our Millbrook Animal Centre.

  • Johnny the mischievous puppy

    Age: Pup

    Treated: For dehydration and
    E. coli

Status: His six brothers and sisters have been rehomed. Johnny is waiting for a new mum or dad.

This is Johnny — one of seven little Rotweiller puppies who came to us badly dehydrated and close to death. But look at him now! Johnny is full of mischief, just as you’d expect a healthy pup to be. He’s a handsome chap and loves nothing more than a tummy scratch.

  • Charlie the lovely lurcher

    Age: Pup

    Treated: Vaccinations

    Status: Rehomed

Charlie was one of a litter of puppies rescued from owners who were severely overbreeding dogs. Kept in cramped conditions and ignored, he had a miserable start in life. But luckily he was brought to us and, in his safe little place, Charlie and his siblings received the care and love they desperately needed.

  • Aslay the adorable cat

    Age: 12

Treated: Underweight. Tumour removed from paw.

    Status: Looking for a
    new owner.

Meet Aslay — not long ago she was a skinny little stray who needed lots of treatment to remove a painful tumour from her paw. You’d never guess she was a stray though. She is placid and laidback - and absolutely adores people. She loves kneading her blanket to get it just right, and having a good, long snooze.

  • Hicks, Newt and Secret – gorgeos kittens!

    Age: Kittens

    Treated: Hand-fed round the clock.

Status: Hicks, Newt and Secret are waiting for a home.

Hicks, Newt and Secret were found cold and hungry in a garage. RSPCA staff hand-fed them round the clock in their own homes until they were strong enough to come to the centre. Today they’re all happy, healthy and extremely cute. We’re sure it won’t be long before they all have new homes.

Got a
question?

  • Does this mean I have my own dog kennel or cat pod?

Does this mean I have my own dog kennel or cat pod?

Unfortunately we have so many kennels and cat pods in our animal centres that it would be very hard for us to assign every sponsor their own – it would incur administrative costs and we’re sure you’d prefer your sponsorship money to directly benefit the cats or dogs you’ve chosen to help look after.

  • Will I know about every animal that stays in the kennel or cat pod I am sponsoring?

Will I know about every animal that stays in the kennel or cat pod I am sponsoring?

We want you to feel as close as possible to the dogs or cats you’re helping. Due to the administrative costs it would incur, we cannot say which specific kennel or cat pod you’re helping to sponsor. But you will receive regular updates of cats or dogs who stay in the safe little places you’re helping to provide - you’ll be able to see how well they’re doing thanks to your sponsorship. You’ll also be able to come and visit them in person at one of our animal centres!

  • How much will sponsoring a kennel or cat pod cost me?

How much will sponsoring a kennel or cat pod cost me?

To sponsor a single kennel or cat pod costs £6.50 per month which is £78 over a year. This amount helps to provide essential care for cats or dogs including nutritious food, clean blankets, veterinary treatment and a safe, warm place to stay.

  • How many cats or dogs will I be helping?

How many cats or dogs will I be helping?

It’s hard to say exactly how many animals you’ll be helping as the time that they’ll stay in a kennel or pod will vary. Some cats or dogs will only need a good wash, a thorough check and a few good meals until they are ready for a new home. Others may come in with serious injuries or illnesses and will need many weeks of care. Your sponsorship will help to look after them, whatever they need to be well again.

On average, cats and dogs stay with us for about a month so you could be helping as many as 12 cats or dogs in a single year.

  • As a sponsor, what will I receive?

As a sponsor, what will I receive?

You’ll receive lots of regular updates about the animals you’re helping to care for. Your Welcome Pack includes more information about your kennel or cat pod, a sponsor’s tag for your keyring and some heartwarming stories of animals who have been helped by a stay in a safe little place.

We’ll also send you five updates a year featuring the latest residents of our kennels and cat pods, and you’ll receive our magazine, Animal Life, twice a year. We’ll also invite you to our open day where you can meet some of the cats and dogs you’re helping through your sponsorship.

  • Does all my money go towards helping animals?

Does all my money go towards helping animals?

Yes! 100% of your sponsorship money goes directly towards looking after cats or dogs in our care. This includes nutritious food, a place to stay, a warm bed, toys to keep them happy and plenty of exercise. No administrative costs will be taken from your sponsorship.

  • Can I give a sponsored kennel or cat pod as a gift?

Can I give a sponsored kennel or cat pod as a gift?

Not yet but we hope to offer it soon. Sponsorship is new to the RSPCA and over the coming months, we will be offering sponsors more, including the chance to give sponsorship as a gift to your friends and family.

  • Can I visit my kennel or cat pod?

Can I visit my kennel or cat pod?

We’d love you to come and visit the cats and dogs you’re helping to care for! Due to the administrative costs that would incur, we cannot assign a specific kennel or pod to your sponsorship but, as a sponsor, you will receive exclusive invitations to our open days. You’ll have the chance to meet some of the cats and dogs, have a look at our kennels and cat pods and talk to our staff about the care you’re giving to animals through your sponsorship.

  • How many animals do you care for in a year?

How many animals do you care for in a year?

In 2010, we cared for 64,086 animals in our centres and did our best to ensure they had a new life with loving owners.

  • Can I give a one-off payment to sponsor a kennel or cat pod for a set period?

Can I give a one-off payment to sponsor a kennel or cat pod for a set period?

Not right now but this may be something we offer in the future.

  • What animal centre is the kennel or cat pod I sponsor located in?

What animal centre is the kennel or cat pod I sponsor located in?

You are helping to sponsor all of our kennels or cat pods in many different animal centres – it would be very costly to assign a specific pod or kennel to each sponsor and I’m sure you’d prefer every penny to be spent on caring for animals in need. However, we’ll keep you updated with what’s happening in lots of different kennels and cat pods so you’ll see some of the cats or dogs you’re helping to care for.

  • How much does it cost to care for a cat or a dog?

How much does it cost to care for a cat or a dog?

Every animal comes to us with different needs. Some may be severely underweight while others may need a major operation and weeks of care. It’s very difficult to say how much it costs to care for a single animal, but some of the basic animal care costs for a month are listed below:

    • Initial check up when an animal is brought in £100
    • A month’s board in a kennel or cat pod £210
    • Standard cat or dog food £30
    • Special diet food for underweight animals £90
    • Veterinary care £60

    • Total: £400 (on standard food)

  • What is Gift Aid?

    What is Gift Aid?

Gift Aid enables us to make the most of the donations we receive. For every £1 we receive, we can reclaim an extra 25p back from the Inland Revenue at no extra cost to you. So you can give even more help to cats or dogs in need through your sponsorship.

As a result of changes in Gift Aid since January 2010, you can now also reclaim tax on any donations made in the last four years. All you have to do to give cats or dogs more help at no extra cost is complete the Gift Aid declaration on your sponsorship form and confirm you are a UK taxpayer. You do not need to sign a new declaration every time you give – it remains effective unless you stop paying tax in the UK.
